From April 2009 - May 2013, I wrote The Daily Dietribe as a personal blog to share my health journey. I began eating gluten free the day before I started this blog, and my life and health have changed completely since then. At first I thought food was the answer to everything. Then I realized it was just part of the puzzle.
The Daily Dietribe Gluten Free Health Challenge is also just a part of the puzzle. Eventually I plan to start an ecovillage with a gluten free retreat center, a safe space for all of you out there who need healing, in mind, body, and spirit. But in the meantime, this challenge takes what started as a personal journey and turns it into a chance for all of you.
Here's how it works:
From June 1st to November 31st of 2013, Shannon, Dorothy, Amy, Marisa, Rebecca, Rose, and Marie will publicly take the challenge. They'll be sharing their journey here with you on the blog, while behind the scenes, they work with their personal health coaches and their Mind*Body*Spirit Coach (that's me!).
For six months, these strong women will commit to their health in mind, body, and spirit. (Of course, we hope it won't just be for six months, but will be a lifetime commitment!)
Mind - For four years, I used The Daily Dietribe like my own personal
journal. It helped me make decisions, get clarity, and have more faith
in myself. Now it does the same for the seven women on this journey.
They'll be sharing their journal entries with you weekly. I hope you'll
send them love and support by leaving them some comments!
Body - The challengers will commit to eating gluten free, and working with a health coach to make lifestyle changes in their diets that make them feel healthier. This is not about restricting. It's about embracing a change for their health, and learning how to make food an enjoyable part of their lives rather than a source of anxiety.
Spirit - As a hypnotherapist and meditation workshop leader, I will be working with these women monthly. We'll be talking about emotional eating, embracing change, and self-sabotage. We'll be meditating, doing hypnotherapy, and I'll be teaching them ways to continue working on their inner healing on their own.
Recipes, Inspirational Stories, Product Reviews, and More...
The first three weeks of every month will be devoted to journal entries. The last week of every month will be all about the food, with gluten free recipes from our health coaches (and an occasional recipe from me). There will also be stories to inspire you, product reviews, and whatever else I dream up. Have an idea of something you'd like to see on the blog? E-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
How can you join?
To begin, take the pledge. Find a quiet time to do this. Write the following down on a piece of paper or in your journal. Then say the words over and over to yourself until you feel you've made the agreement in your heart. Sign the pledge and keep it in a spot that you'll see it often.
"I will challenge myself to love and respect myself and my body. I will challenge myself to treat myself as I would a dear friend, with kindness and support. I will challenge myself to eat healthy because I love myself and because I want to take care of myself."
Next, join the Facebook Group. This group is a place of support for healthy eating in body, mind, and spirit. You do not have to be gluten free to join the group, just interested in healthy eating. All of the Gluten Free Health Challenge coaches are part of the Facebook Group, and are there to answer questions and offer support.
Ultimately, I hope that this challenge reminds you to live fully- with joy, with pride, and with the strength that comes from knowing that you are taking care of yourself.
