Amy's Bandwagon: Blogging a Handmade, Natural Life

I was reading Facebook, and a friend wrote a post about "Unprocessed October". Between this challenge and her post, I started thinking about a blog I started about 4 years ago, thehandmadeandnaturallife.blogspot.com.  It started because of my belief in living naturally.  Unfortunately, as time has gone on, life has gotten in the way, and I haven't been as good at following through with my handmade and natural beliefs.  I am taking the start of October to jumpstart my beliefs again.

My goals for this month are to remain creative, both in my love of sewing, knitting, etc, as well as my love of cooking. I am planning on continuing to make things for gifts, such as cards, a baby quilt, and other gifts that I hope people will enjoy as much as I enjoy creating them. I plan to make and use handmade body products, such as deodorant, toothpaste, body cream, and soap as well as other things that come up. Finally, I plan to make my own foods from scratch and not buy processed foods.  When I was eating gluten, I had a great pancake mix that I could store dry and then add the wet ingredients as needed. I haven't yet found a good gluten free one, so I have prepared, store-bought mixes. I am hoping that someone will have a good mix that I can have around the house. I have started making my own yogurt, and I plan to try to make dairy free yogurt next. I have made granola in the past, but haven't made it recently, and I need to find a good nut free granola recipe, as well as a nut free granola bar recipe so that I can send it with my oldest to school. I know that there are many other things that I plan on making from scratch. I'll be posting on my blog, hopefully often, with how my month is going.  Hopefully, I can post some link or some recipes that I have found useful.

Here's to living a less processed life!
