As the title suggests, this is more than just a cookbook. It's a guide for anyone eating dairy-free or even just considering reducing the amount of dairy in their diets. Alisa Marie Fleming, author and creator of www.godairyfree.org and www.alisacooks.com, wrote Go Dairy Free as a resource for those of us wondering what to do once we say goodbye to dairy.
The best thing about Go Dairy Free is not, in my opinion, the recipes. Don't get me wrong...the recipes are awesome (I never knew you could use hemp seeds to make milk at home!), but Go Dairy Free also has information on the science of milk - What is it? Do you need to buy organic? What about the calcium conundrum? How can you make sure you're getting enough calcium in your diet? I might be in school for nutrition now, but I honestly learned so much from reading Go Dairy Free that I never learned in my classes!
As for the recipes, I literally wanted to try every recipe I saw. But due to my various sensitivities right now, I'll have to hold off until I can eat more foods. I did, however, make the Quick & Creamy Bean Soup, and it was a hit at a recent dinner. I also really want to try the Spiced Autumn Soup, which I will be able to eat! Not all of Alisa's recipes are gluten-free in Go Dairy Free, but many are and those that aren't could be easily adapted.
I've really only just touched on all the reasons why any kitchen would benefit from having Go Dairy Free in it. To check out more of Alisa's recipes, check out www.alisacooks.com. She actually has a really awesome giveaway up on her blog right now too!

I've been looking for a new book to read. This one might just be it. :) Sounds very interesting and helpful to boot - Thank You for bringing it to my attention, Iris.
I would love this - I've been cutting dairy out progressively since it started to aggravate my system after I went gf. This might just be the kick in the pants I need to go whole hog.
looks like a great book, thank you for the review. We're gluten free and it's looking like my youngest might have a dairy problem, testing her at the moment.
I'm not entering the giveaway though as I'm in the UK.
blessings to you from Angela

I would love to win this- good, dairy free recipes are hard to come by!! :)
I'd be interested in seeing what it may offer. There are so many restrictions in my diet, but I would like options to pursue that creamy feeling. ;p Thanks!

The would be a great help in preparing food for my daughter. It has been quite a challenge preparing foods that are not only safe, but delicious too. She is very picky.
This book sounds great! I've been dairy free for a couple months and this would definitely help out!

I would LOVE to win this book! I've recently discovered I have issues with dairy (and gluten, sigh!), and am looking for great dairy-free recipes! Thanks for the opportunity. :)
I've had to eliminate dairy from my diet since May of this year.. I've found some okay recipes that are dairy free but a whole cookbook dedicated to it?!? HOW LOVELY!! :)

What a wonderful looking book and soup!

I was diagnosed as "definitely" lactose intolerant when I was 17 years old (ten years ago, yikes). Since then, I have switched to soy milk but lack the willpower, or maybe some good alternatives, to be able completely avoid all dairy products. A book like this may be just the thing to help me make the full switch!
I would love this book! Actually, I've wanted it for awhile... on the list, but haven't gotten there yet. I've beeen struggling with going dairy free, and would love some help.

I would love this book! It's been on my wish list for awhile now. :)
I've been eliminating dairy for about 3 months now. It's been a slow transition for me. I need to figure out dairy free butter or shortening substitutes. I think Earth Balance also has soy, and I also need to avoid soy. Thanks for the giveaway!

I think my comment never went through.. well I am newly dairy free (the last two weeks)..and I am going nuts! No ice cream.. no chocolate.. no whipped cream!? Everything seems to have dairy.. I hope this book will help me survive and get me hopeful again! Thanks for the opportunity!
I would love to have this book, we just found out our 1 year old son has a severe peanut allergy and egg allergy and bow a dairy intolerance... I am very overwhelmed trying to come up with ideas for meals the whole family would love. I have tried a few cookbooks from the library but they are mostly vegan which has a lot of nuts in them! I'm really hoping this book is what I'm looking for! Plus in our church we have several children with dairy and gluten intolerances so it would be great to have ideas for when it's my turn to bring snacks!!
In our dairy free household, I would love to win this book! Always looking for more recipes to try out! Hope I win!!
This book is awesome. I borrowed it from the library recently and thought it was fabulous. If I don't win I'll probably buy it. Now, to tweet it!
Have taken my autistic son off all dairy products. Would really love to have this book.

I have been dairy free for two months since my 4 month olds Dr. Said he maybe allergic. You have been a huge help! Thanks!
I found out just over a year ago that I'm rather allergic to everything dairy. Milk, yogurt, casein, cheese, whey, etc. As time permits I've been flexing my not so refined cooking muscles in the kitchen with dairy-free recipes. I've had my eye on this book online but haven't caught it on the shelf of a bricks & mortar store yet.
I'd love to win this cookbook and learn more dairy-free recipes. Many recipes I can convert but some don't come out as expected, so having more perfected recipes would be great!
